Stephen A. Smith has a blunt message for the Golden State Warriors if they want to save their season, as the analyst has called for the Warriors to make the trade for Kevin Durant.
The Golden State Warriors have not had the best of starts to their season. The defending champions from last season would have hoped for a much better start to their title defense this season, as they are currently sitting in 12th place on the Western Conference standings with an away record of 0-8 – their worst start to any season on the road since the 1989/90 season.
However, their bad form also coincides with their talisman Stephen Curry being on a hot streak. The four-time champion and Finals’ MVP from last season has been playing some of the best basketball of his illustrated career, racking up multiple 40-point performances and even an incredible 50-point performance against the Phoenix Suns in their latest loss on the road.
Despite their talisman’s incredible form, the Warriors continue to underwhelm with their performances. Jordan Poole has not been at his best lately, and the young triplet of Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman have not looked as good as they should – which has prompted Stephen A. Smith to prompt the Warriors to go for a player to save their season.
The NBA analyst has prompted the Warriors to make the trade for Kevin Durant if they want to save the season.
Speaking on the latest episode of NBA Countdown on ESPN, Smith said that the Warriors should go in for Kevin Durant if they want to save their season. When asked what should the Warriors do about their underwhelming form, Smith said: “Bring in Kevin Durant. I know it’s not the most popular thing to say, but going in for Durant can help the Warriors this season.”
Smith also stressed that Durant is a former Warrior and has won two Championships with Curry, and did not rule out going back to the Chase Center when he was looking for a way out of Brooklyn in the off season. It will certainly interest to see how the situation unfolds and watching the pair back for one last dance will be a sight to behold for any basketball admire.
