Devin Booker has been overlooked in the race for the MVP award despite having a phenomenal season for the Phoenix Suns.
The MVP race this year has been very tight throughout the season but some players are being heavily overlooked and one of them is Devin Booker who has had a phenomenal season so far for the Phoenix Suns.
Booker is the best player on the best team in the league which has been lately enough to guarantee an MVP award but this isn’t the case this year as Booker is not even in the talks for getting the MVP award.
Other players like Nikola Jokic, Giannis, and Joel Embiid have been the frontrunners for the MVP award which has caused the people and media to overlook Devin Booker who himself has said that he should be the MVP this season due to all the criteria mentioned above.
However, Stephen A Smith on First Take made a case for Devin Booker to be the MVP this year because he has been consistently the best player on the best team in the NBA and even without Chris Paul who was out due to an injury, he was able to lead the Suns and lock the 1st seed in the West.
Should Devin Booker be considered in the race for the MVP?
Devin Booker should absolutely be considered for the MVP because apart from leading his team to the best record in the NBA, he is averaging 26.6 PPG, 4.9 APG, and 5RPG while shooting 46.4% from the field and 37.7% from behind the arc which are astonishing numbers for a player who doesn’t have any size advantages over the players like the other three frontrunners for the MVP award.
It is highly unlikely though that Booker will win his first MVP this season because the voters are still not giving his flowers to him but he for sure will be back again for the MVP award next season where he is likely to win if the Suns continue to play like the way they have in this season.
