Stephen A. Smith has raised a problem with the Boston Celtics as an organization, following the Boston franchise’s handling of the Ime Udoka cheating situation.

Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka has recently been in the news for all the wrong reasons. While the former NBA player led the Celtics to the NBA Finals last season and had his team looking forward to bettering their finish, the Celtics are in for a major setback after their coach was suspended for breaching organizational guidelines as part of a workplace cheating scandal.

It was recently revealed that Udoka was cheating on his fiancé and Hollywood actress Nia Long – most known for her role in the famous TV show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – with an unnamed female staff member at the Celtics. Because of breaching organizational guidelines with a workplace affair, Udoka has been suspended by the Celtics for an indefinite period.

According to the official statement that has been released by the Celtics, the indefinite period of suspension will certainly include the entire upcoming 2022/23 season. While most people in the NBA community were satisfied with the way that the Celtics dealt with the situation, analyst Stephen A. Smith has raised his concerns over the handling of the scandal.

What did Stephen A. Smith have to say about the handling of the Ime Udoka situation?

The NBA analyst raised his concerns about the Celtics’ handling of the situation.

Speaking on an ESPN show, Smith directly addressed the owner of the Celtics and said that he has a problem with the Celtics as an organization. Smith directly addressed the hierarchy as he said: “I got a problem with you as an organization. If you are not going to fire him, then why do we even know about this story? Nobody is bringing that up, but I am going to bring it up.”

“If you are not going to fire him, then why do we even know about this story?”

Smith spoke about how normal a workplace relationship between two consenting adults is in any professional sports organization and then asked that if the Celtics will not fire Udoka for this – then why does everyone know about the story?”

It is a very reasonable argument from the seasoned veteran analyst, as the Udoka situation keeps evolving.
