Stephen Curry opens up about when he is going to retire and brings up Tom Brady
Despite being one of the best basketball players in the world and having just won the NBA championship last season, Stephen Curry is already 34 years old and considering calling it quits. In short, Stephen Curry has thoughts to retire.
Nevertheless, Curry still has got gas left in his tank and can keep playing for a few more seasons. But he has been contemplating when to retire and even asked NFL legend, Tom Brady for some expert advice.
Curry had a deep conversation with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady about retirement. Steph recently told reporters what he learned and what Curry’s philosophy will be regarding retirement.
“I talked to Tom Brady at one point about how he’s at the point in his career where he’s still playing at a high level at 44 or whatever it is,” Curry said during an appearance at the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Awards.
“His example and his advice was to take it a year at a time.
“He said there’s no way to fast forward, that’s not how you got to this point, so don’t rush yourself and think about how long you can do it.
“Your body will tell you, and I don’t see myself slowing down any time soon.”
Wardell Stephen Curry II or simply Stephen Curry is currently playing his 13th NBA season. However, he is already 34 years old and will soon turn 35 years old on March 14, 2023.
During these 13 seasons, Curry has achieved a lot in his career. He has been a four-time NBA champion, NBA Finals MVP, two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, eight-time NBA All-Star, and a lot more.
Frankly, Curry has several unbeatable records and if he keeps playing, he will continue stacking up his records and achievements list. But all good things must come to an end.
Curry’s current contract with the Golden State Warriors runs until 2026, so 2026 could be his highly potential retirement date. As his GSW contract runs dry in 2026, Curry will 38 years old at that time.
But, for now, Stephen Curry is just taking it one year at a time, on the advice of Tom Brady.
