Stephen Curry has confirmed that the Golden State Warriors were interested to trade in Kevin Durant for the upcoming season.
Kevin Durant’s summer could’ve ended differently. The Brooklyn Nets superstar requested for a trade earlier in the summer, and opened the door for himself to join another NBA franchise in what would have been the blockbuster deal of the summer.
As expected, plenty of franchises were interested to sign the superstar–and it turns out that one of them were his former team. According to recent reports, the Golden State Warriors–Durant’s former team and the reigning defending NBA champions – were in talks to sign Durant for the upcoming season.
According to a recent interview between Curry and Rolling Stone, it was revealed that the Warriors explored the possibility of signing Durant in what would have been the blockbuster trade of the summer.
What did Curry have to say about joining forces with Durant once again?
As it turns out, Steph Curry was fully on board with his former teammate teaming up with him once again for the upcoming season.
Speaking recently, Curry said that he completely agreed with the idea of bringing his former teammate – with whom he won back to back NBA Championships – back to the Warriors.
The four time champion said: “If you said ‘Oh, KD’s coming back and we’re gonna play with him,’ I had so much fun playing with him for three years, I’d be like, ‘Hell, yeah!’”
KD and Curry combined for three years in the NBA and won two NBA Championships in their first two seasons, and were eliminated from the finals in their third season. Following that, Durant chased greener pastures elsewhere at the Brooklyn Nets.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that the prospect of Curry and Durant together once again – along with the likes of Draymond Green and Klay Thompson – would certainly be an exciting watch, and a very interesting race for the Championship title would’ve been on the way.
