Warriors former player and Stephen Curry’s old teammate reflect on their time together and how Curry evolved.
The name “Stephen Curry” needs no introduction. He is the best three-point shooter in the league and nobody is not even close to his stats.
There were times when he was yet to show his full potential to the world and was underappreciated by his own coach.
Recently, former NBA champion and Warrior talked to Sky Sports and revealed shocking facts. He stated that four-time champion Steph Curry was not treated well in his initial years with the Golden State Warriors.
According to Jeremy Lin, when he was in his rookie season, the head coach of the warriors, Keith Smart was not impressed by Steph Curry and never believed in him to be great as he is today.
Jeremy said during the interview, “I was with him my rookie year. The coach that we had didn’t believe that much in Steph and would bench him a lot, get on him, yell at him a lot, was just really tough on him.”
He further added how Steph believed in himself and made a name. According to Lin, “It almost became normal that every fourth quarter, he would get benched for a certain stretch. I felt that would shake any player to some degree and even though his confidence would kind of waver a little bit.”
He added, “Because of the way that he was being coached – he had a deep, deep, very strong belief that he was a great player and that he would become a great player, and that the way things were going at that time was not how they were always going to go.”
Curry was drafted by the Warriors in the year and since then he has evolved into one of the best players in the history of the game. He got four rings with the GSW team and not planning to leave anytime soon.
Recently Stephen Curry signed a 4 year, USD 215,353,664 contract with the Golden State Warriors that shows his loyalty to the team.
There is no hardware that Steph doesn’t have with the team, he has been awarded as the only Unanimous MVP of the league, Finals MVP, all-star MVP and won four rings along with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
