Dave McMenamin details what he observed at the Los Angeles Lakers Media Day and how LeBron James is refreshed
In an interview shared on the ESPN YouTube account, Dave McMenamin shared what he saw at the Lakers media day. He talked about a refreshed LeBron James and how James seems to be in a good mental frame of mind. McMenamin went on to mention that it means that LeBron is fully aware of the Laker’s current roster situation.
In the discussion with Ohm Youngmisuk, McMenamin further explained that a lot of people take cues from LeBron’s energy and vibes. LeBron James’ positive mindset will rub off on the people around him and create a more positive atmosphere.
McMenamin was at the Lakers Media Day and had the chance to spend a little time with LeBron. He said LeBron James has come into this season with a mindset to achieve and that can be extremely impactful. In a Lakers season driven by trade rumours, a refreshed LeBron James might help the team be competitive.
Are the Lakers contenders to win the 2022-23 NBA Championship?
No, the Los Angeles Lakers are not serious contenders to win the 2022-23 NBA Championship. Most NBA analysts think the Lakers won’t make the playoffs, with some saying they might qualify for the Play-In Tournament. The smallest group is those that think the Lakers will qualify for the playoffs with a Top-6 spot out West.
Even if both LeBron and Anthony Davis played their best basketball, it’d be difficult for the Lakers to win a championship. The Lakers would need a lot from a lacklustre bench unit and the other three starting players.
The biggest question mark is Russell Westbrook. If Westbrook is not traded will he be able to provide what LeBron and Davis need? Westbrook has not changed as a player since last season and that causes a lot of problems for the Lakers.
The last point is that the Lakers are lacking when it comes to shooting. They need shooters and good defense if they want to compete for an NBA Championship. Two things that they struggled mightily with last season.
