While doing an interview with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter, Ben Simmons cleared the air regarding the Nets group chat issue

In an interview on JJ Redick and Tommy Alter’s podcast “Old Man and the Three” Ben Simmons opened up about a number of topics. One of these topics was the Ben Simmons Nets group chat fiasco. It was reported that Simmons had left the Brooklyn Nets group chat. This supposedly happened shortly before the Nets got swept in the first round of the 2021-22 playoffs.

In an August episode of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Ric Bucher said that Simmons left the Nets group chat in an abrupt manner.

“They’re having a team chat before Game 4, thinking he’s going to play against the Celtics, and from what I’m told, Ben just left the chat. They asked him, ‘Are you going to play?’ Ben left the chat. Like he didn’t even answer the question. Just left the chat.”

In his interview with JJ Redick, Ben laughed at these claims and refuted them saying that he was so confused at the accusation. Simmons even said that he had to call Nets teammate Patty Mills to make sure he hadn’t left the group by mistake. Simmons also said that he was upset that people were making things up and taking things too far.

Will Ben Simmons play in the 2022-23 NBA season?

According to reports, Ben Simmons will suit up for the Brooklyn Nets this season. It appears that he’s recovered very well from his injuries and is looking fantastic in practice. Many NBA fans and analysts are looking forward to seeing Simmons play alongside Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
