The former Lakers center Thomas Bryant is returning back to represent the purple gold for the next season after a stint with the Wizards.
The Los Angeles Lakers and former Wizards center Thomas Bryant have agreed to a one-year contract. Bryant will have the chance to secure the starting center spot. Several teams from across the league were also interested in him, but he decided to go back to the Lakers.
Bryant, who was selected in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft, returns to Los Angeles where he played for the Lakers during his rookie season. He spent the previous four seasons with the Washington Wizards after being released in 2018.
He tore his ACL in January 2021, however, he participated in 27 games in the 2021–22 season after coming back. In his career, he has averaged 10.2 points, 5.7 points per game, and a 59 percent field goal percentage.
According to Chris Haynes: Free agent Thomas Bryant has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers on a one-year deal and will be given an opportunity to win starting center position, league sources tell @YahooSports:
Thomas Bryant will be a perfect fit for this Lakers team. He can become the starting center for this team, and play alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the frontcourt.
Adding him to the team will provide good spacing for LeBron and AD. If the Lakers are able to add Kyrie Irving and one of Seth Curry or Joe Harris, this team could become very dangerous. A move for Kyrie Irving would absolutely put the Lakers in championship contention, and everyone knows about it.
