NBA fight – Malice at Little Caesars Arena. The distressing turn of events in the NBA’s game between Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic has stunned the league and its fans.
The NBA hasn’t yet publicly spoken about the event at suspensions, but the fans feel there could be several players under the radar. Upon review there were 3 players who were ejected from the game. Orlando Magic’s Moritz Wagner and Piston’s Killian Hayes and Hamidou Diallo.
The incident took place in the 2nd quarter of the game when Detroit was leading 63-44 against Orlando. After losing the ball, Wagner went on to grab the ball but was chased by Kylian Hayes. Wagner shoulder-pushed Hayes towards the Piston bench but the push wasn’t taken lightly.
Hamidou Diallo shoved Wagner towards the Piston bench meanwhile, Hayes decided to land a “MMA-Illegal” punch towards. Wagner fell straight in between the crowd that surrounded him. “He’s fine,” said Franz Wagner, Moritz’s younger brother. “I haven’t seen the video, but I know that’s the last thing he wanted to do.”
Detroit Pistons’ ended up winning the game by 121-101 but their coach Dwane Casey was annoyed. He said, “I need an explanation about the decision because my understanding is you can’t leave the bench area and escalate a situation, that’s when really bad things can happen.”
Casey’s comment was regarding the Magic players who emptied the bench after watching their teammate Wagner being punched. Franz Wagner, Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter Jr, Gary Harris, Mo Bamba, R.J. Hampton, Terrence Ross, and Admiral Schofield stood up and ran towards the Piston bench.
Franz Wagner was asked if he felt the players should have left their seat, he said, “We’re aware of the rule, but things like that usually happen on the court, not on one of the benches. Your worry is that your teammate is down there amongst the whole other team.”
