Taurean Prince of Minnesota Timberwolves was arrested at Miami international airport on Thursday.
The NBA world is shocked as Taurean Prince was arrested for unlawful carrying of a gun and possession of marijuana along with THC oil.
According to Arlington police, the Texas police department stopped the 28 years old NBA star while he was driving a car with expired registration on May 19.
At the time of arrest, he was carrying a vape pen which is legal, but at the same time, he was found with THC oil which is illegal to carry and consume in Texas state. Later search also resulted in gun possession and a marijuana canister.
After that, his reports were sent to a lab for testing and the reports released recently showed the consumed quantity was enough to send the player to Jail felony.
Timberwolves forward and San Antonio native Taurean Prince is arrested at Miami airport for drug-related charges. Texas marked him an out-of-state fugitive and issued a warrant for the same.
Fox Sports Andy Slater reported that the charges he is facing are unclear but he was arrested and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, Florida this Thursday.
The Minnesota Timberwolves also released a statement related to his arrest: “We are aware of the alleged report regarding Taurean Prince and are in process of gathering more information.”
Prince is known as a locked-in defender and one of the best role players for the Wolves.
He attended Baylor college in Texas before playing in the NBA. Taurean is a 12th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft. He joined Minnesota in a trade from Cleveland Cavaliers in the last offseason.
Mostly coming off the bench, Prince averaged 7.3 points a game playing almost 17 minutes during his current tenure in Minnesota.
Prince signed a two-year contract with the Wolves for USD 14.6 million which is not guaranteed for the next season.
