Steph Curry, the point player for the Golden State Warriors, has been selected Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated for 2022. After finishing the 2021–22 season with an average of 25.5 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game, Curry won his fourth NBA championship.
He reserved his finest performance for the NBA Finals, helping the Golden State Warriors defeat the Boston Celtics in six games with 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. Curry and the Warriors, who had just finished a league-worst 15-50 in 2019–20, had made an incredible comeback. Due to a fractured left hand, Curry missed all except five of the games that season.
The Warriors rediscovered their rhythm again, winning 53 games and essentially running through the Western Conference playoffs before defeating the Celtics.
Eight All-Star Game appearances, two scoring titles, two NBA MVP trophies, eight All-NBA team honours, two FIBA World Cup gold medals, and other achievements are now on Curry’s résumé. Additionally, he was chosen for the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
Curry attended Davidson University, where he excelled for three years before entering the NBA in 2009 if we talk about his excellence off the field. According to Michael Rosenberg of Sports Illustrated, he and his wife, Ayesha Curry, have maintained their humanitarian work in a number of different areas.
