Top-5 players in the NBA MVP Race

Published by

Season is approching towards its end and the MVP race is heating up.

The MVP award in the NBA is given to the player who has performed exceptionally well throughout the season and has kept his team’s hopes alive.

Last year Nikola Jokic won the NBA’s MVP Award and this year also he is in the mix to win it.

He has led the Denver Nuggets to a respectable position in the west while missing his co-stars in Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. who aren’t playing due to injuries.

Along with him, there are multiple players who are in the MVP race and have a strong case for winning it.

These rankings will be changing every week due to the performances of the other players and the injuries related to their team or themselves.

Here are the top 5 players in the MVP race:

5. Stephen Curry – Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are the 2nd seed in the West and have been relying on Steph Curry to win them games. With Draymond Green out for a long time and Klay Thompson adapting after being out for 2 years with Injury, all the burden is on Steph Curry and he has been good so far most of the time.

He is averaging – 26-6-5

4. Chris Paul – Phoenix Suns

Phoenix Suns have the best record in the NBA and have been storming through everyone. Chris Paul has been their most important player alongside Devin Booker due to his ability to improve everyone around him. He will be out of the MVP race though as he has suffered an injury that will keep him out for 6-8 weeks.

3. Giannis Antetokounmp – Milwauke Bucks

The Greek Freak is rolling and so are the Bucks, the defending champions are back to their old selves and will be looking for a huge push to end the regular season with Giannis leading from the front.

He is averaging – 29-6-11

2. Joel Embiid – Philadelphia 76ers

Many people believe that he is the best player in the world and rightly so. He has been playing out of his mind and carrying the 76ers on his back in the absence of Ben Simmons.

He is averaging – 30-4-11

1. Nikola Jokic- Denver Nuggets

The reigning NBA MVP is back again at the top spot and he deserves it. The way he has been carrying the Denver Nuggets on his back in the absence of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. has been astonishing. Anything that Embiid does, Jokic matches it up while having much less quality on his team around him than Embiid.

He is averaging – 26-8-14
