Serena Williams was knocked out of the US Open last night in what was likely to be her last ever game, and sports personalities poured in the tributes to a legendary career – the most recent of whom is Trae Young.

The legendary American tennis player was knocked out of the third round of the US Open by Ajla Tomljanovic, and as Williams said before the commencement of the tournament that this would be her final Open – it meant that the curtains were down on her incredible career.

After enjoying a career spanning over 27 years where she won 73 total titles – out of which 23 were Grand Slam titles making her the most celebrated Grand Slam athlete ever – Williams has finally decided to hang up her boots, and the tributes came pouring in for a once in a generation athlete.

Besides many other top NBA personalities who took to Twitter to congratulate Williams on her legendary career, Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young also took to his Twitter account as he celebrated the career of the inspirational and incredible athlete that is Serena Williams.

Young’s tweet simply goes to show the inexplicable impact that Serena had on a whole generation of athletes irrespective of their respective sports, and highlights the legacy that Serena Williams leaves behind after enjoying an inspirational and incredible career.

Young will hope to replicate Serena’s incredible mentality and never give up attitude – which she even displayed in her last ever game in the upcoming season as he hopes to lead the Atlanta Hawks to NBA Championship glory.
