In the very first week of February, LeBron James will be pulling off the unthinkable by surpassing Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the all-time NBA scoring list. However, that is not the ultimate goal of the 38-year-old, who wants to register wins for his team at the moment and is fully focused on that than any other individual accolade.
The Purple and Gold unit got off to a terrible 0-5 start after which the heroics of Anthony Davis and LeBron James restores some parity to the Lakers’ 2022-23 campaign. Their most recent win came at home, against the Atlanta Hawks, making them register a four-game winning streak for the first time in this season.
For those who are not aware LeBron James has been averaging 29.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in this season yet there is no doubt that he needs some help in achieving his objective of leading the Los Angeles Lakers deep into the playoffs.
LeBron James wants to achieve more with the Lakers
In a conversation with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the iconic Power Forward indirectly hinted at how he wants his team to fight for a championship. King James said, “I don’t like having accomplishments, and it doesn’t feel right when it comes in a losing effort. … So, as we sit here right now as a franchise and as a team that’s below .500 — we’ve been playing some good basketball as of late, but we want to and I want to win at the highest level. Breaking records or setting records or passing greats in a losing effort has never been a DNA of mine.
“Me being out on the floor, trying to get the scoring [title] in games that don’t matter, it felt so corny to me. So, I was like, I’m not even going [to play],” he said. “So that has never mattered to me unless it was about winning.”
