While many consider Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray to be the ideal faces of the Denver Nuggets franchise, Ty Lue knows the exact players who have haunted his Los Angeles Clippers in recent outings. It is none other than the Slam Dunk Beast – Aaron Gordon.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Nuggets vs Clippers clash on Friday, Ty Lue got honest on how Aaron Gordon has literally ‘owned’ the Los Angeles Clippers in the past few matchups, as his team has had no strategy to stop his wrath. Moreover, Lue went on to emphasize how Gordon ‘has killed’ the Clippers.
As per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints, Lue even stated how it is vitally important for the Clippers to contain Aaron Gordon if they were to top Denver Nuggets in their most recent showdown.
“This team has owned us over the past eight games, I think they’re 7-1, so we gotta come out with the mindset to win the game, we gotta prepare, and we gotta bring a physicality to the game,” Lue shared.
Let us look at the individual stats to know what exactly is Lue stressing upon. In only the three games Aaron Gordon has played against the resilient Los Angeles Clippers in 2021-22, he actually averaged 24.7 points. This 2022-23, he dropped 28 points on the LA franchise last November to lead Denver to the 114-104 win. While eyes were firmly stuck on Jokic, Gordon remained to be the underrated star once again.
