Latest reports reveal unvaccinated NBA players will not be paid for the games they miss
Vaccination of the players has been a hot topic of discussion in the NBA for a while now.
As reported earlier, the teams from New York and San Francisco require full vaccination for the home team players. It means that any player who fails to get vaccinated from the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors will not be allowed to participate in the home fixtures of the team.
According to the latest reports, the players will not be paid for the games they miss because of the vaccine mandate. Mike Bass, the NBA’s executive vice president of communications said (h/t ESPN):
“Any player who elects not to comply with local vaccination mandates will not be paid for games that he misses”
This could affect the Nets and Warriors as some of their players have yet to get vaccinated. The other team from New York, Knicks previously reported that all players of the organization have been vaccinated.
Has Kyrie Irving been vaccinated?
One of the biggest names from the NBA, Kyrie Irving is yet to be vaccinated. The Nets player missed the team’s media day because of the same. Irving joined the media day via zoom and decided to keep his vaccination status up to himself.
The only reason being his failure to get vaccinated until now. Though the league is working on new protocols and rules for the unvaccinated player it is a huge set back for the Nets. They will not be able to play Irving in their home games. Irving is crucial to the team and the fans will hope that he gets vaccinated.
