During an interview with local Bay Area radio station, 95.7 The Game, Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers gave a huge update on Stephen Curry’s return. The 3-Point King who has been out for weeks (December 14) since his shoulder injury sustained against the Indiana Pacers, the defending champions have been in a spot of bother as we reach the half-point stage of the 2022-23 NBA Season.
After an initial scare, the Warriors came to know that Stephen Curry required no surgery on his shoulder and could come out on the court to help out his team after a month’s time. According to Myers, the reigning NBA Finals MVP will be returning on January 13th against the San Antonio Spurs as his rehab is going well and all according to the plans laid out.
Since when has the 3-Point King been out of action? Stephen Curry’s injury happened early in a disastrous 1-5 road trip for the Golden State Warriors, who were 15-18 when they returned to the Bay Area late in the month of November. With their star man set for an extended spell on the sidelines, it seemed like the Warriors’ disappointing season would get even worse. Their most recent loss came against the Detroit Pistons as Saddiq Bey knocked a 3-point buzzer-beater to fetch a late victory.
“He’s (Stephen Curry) gonna get evaluated this weekend, and he’s working out on the court,” Myers said as mentioned by CBS Sports. “The two-week mark to evaluate him would be this weekend, but there’s been no setbacks or anything like that. The first road game is Friday in San Antonio.”
“That would be a hope, that’s what we’d be shooting for, something in that range for him to be back. He’s been – not contact – but he’s been out there doing all his stuff and he looks like the same guy. He’s got a sleeve on his shoulder and his arm but that would be the plan. We gotta see what he looks like this weekend though.”
