Clint Capela made headlines with an incredible block against Giannis Antetokounmpo on Monday as the Atlanta Hawks take on Milwaukee Bucks
The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 121-106 on Monday night at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This defeat was Milwaukee’s second straight loss and on the other hand, this was Atlanta’s ninth win.
After this loss, the Milwaukee Bucks (10-3) dropped to second position in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, with a record of (9-5), the Atlanta Hawks stand just below the Bucks, in the third position.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo had a good game, dropping 27 points, 4 assists, and 8 rebounds. However, Giannis’ efforts were not enough as Bucks could not secure the win.
For the Bucks side, the absence of Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday is strongly felt. Owing to injury, Middleton is absent since the beginning of the 2022-23 season. Bucks’ starting point guard, Jrue Holiday sat out the Monday’s game as well because of a sprained right ankle.
Naturally, with two in the ‘big three’ missing, it was tough for Giannis alone to carry the offensive load of Bucks and grab the win. Although Giannis scored 27 points, he could not run the offense efficiently. Giannis had only four assists, with eight turnovers and was eventually fouled out of the game in the fourth quarter.
The Atlanta Hawks took great advantage of Middleton’s and Holiday’s absence. They played intelligent defense, forcing Bucks to commit mistakes.
For the Hawks, Trae Young scored 21 points, with 9 assists, and 3 rebounds. Clint Capela scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Dejounte Murray scored 19 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and dished five assists.
The stand out player for Hawks was their forward, De’Andre Hunter. With constant feed from the Hawks’ guards, Hunter scored 24 points, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds. These 24 points are Hunter’s season-high score.
Among all the highlights that the game produced, the greatest moment which grabbed everyone’s eyeballs was when Atlanta Hawks’ Clint Capela blocked Giannis Antetokounmpo.
During the weeing minutes of the third quarter, Giannis had a clear lane and took the high road to put on a monster dunk and end the quarter. However, Capela rose to the occasion and made a monster block to Giannis’s attempt. Capela denied Giannis right at the rim. Since then, the block has gone viral.
