Never defend Ja Morant when he’s launching his way to the rim if you do not want to end on a poster that is the unsaid rule which flows in the NBA world. Given that the Memphis Grizzlies has got unreal athleticism and the ability to dunk, his latest entry in the Dunk of the Year tally even made sure Indiana Pacers fans are up on their feet.
Morant’s dunk over Pacers forward Jalen Smith could well be the Dunk of the Year by all means. Morant’s epic and eye-catching crossover on Oshea Brissett opened up a clear path for himself to the basket. The Memphis Grizzlies point guard got a full head of steam as he rose up for the slam. This is just where Jalen Smith went wrong and decided to stop Morant on top. The result? Perhaps see for yourself in the video.
That wasn’t insane or disrespectful, but legendary. The commentators and fans were up on their feet as it evidently took time for everyone to realize what Morant had just pulled off.
Ja Morant sends in a Dunk of the Year entry
While one has to applaud Smith for trying to block Morant but everyone knew who was going to come out victorious in the battle mid-air. The Indiana Pacers big man knew he was risking being on the wrong end of another Ja poster, but he showed no fear. Unfortunately for him, Ja elevated a few inches over him for the mind-blowing one-handed flush.
This isn’t the first time we have seen Morant exploding at the rim. Hopefully, we find someone, sometime sooner rather than later who can be as efficient at blocking dunks as this reigning Most Improved Player is at scoring.
