Tempers ran high in Wednesday’s encounter between Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons when Killian Hayes unapologetically punches Moe Wagner in the back of his head as the latter barged into the Pistons’ bench.
Talking about the particular incident, both Killian Hayes and Moe Wagner ran after a loose ball in the backcourt. After which the Magic ‘s marquee shoved Hayes into one corner by lowering his shoulder as the two were running in full force. On one hand where Killian laid low on one side, Wagner barged into the Pistons bench where tempers were already running high verbally.
Just as things started to flare up, Killian Hayes came from behind to strike with his foreman to the back of Moe Wagner’s head. This is just when Wagner abruptly seemed to be knocked out on the home team’s bench as several other Orlando Magic players came running in to answer Hayes for his antics.
While Wagner did not raise his hand after shoving Hayes to the Pistons bench, he was also sent out of the game for initially shoving the other player. While the refs saw the video numerous times, it did appear as if Moe did it on purpose. Along with them Pistons guard Hamidou Diallo was also ejected.
Safe to say, the incident made everyone remember the infamous Malice in the Palace incident from 2004, when the Pistons and Pacers got into a brawl at the end of a regular-season game at the Palace of Auburn Hills that erupted into chaos. A visual where fans came down to fight with the gigantic basketball beasts. Fortunately, things didn’t go that bad on this occasion.
