Patrick Beverley lost his cool at an NBA ref when the officials missed a clear-cut foul of Jayson Tatum on LeBron James on the last drive made by the 38-year-old Power Forward. Not only was Bron left stranded on the floor, trying to convince the refs to blow the whistle, but Beverley also went a step ahead to convince the officials.
Patrick Beverley legit took a game camera to show the refs where actually LeBron James has been hit. For this, the Lakers were handed a technical foul. As a result of which, Jaylen Brown was allowed to start OT with a free throw.
With the game tied at 105, there were only 4 seconds remaining on the clock when LeBron James took the ball in his hand and drove his way to the basket. With the 3 Los Angeles Lakers players guarding the rim, Jayson Tatum clearly slammed the arm of LeBron yet there was no foul call.
Patrick Beverley lashes out at the NBA ref with the game camera
For his actions, Los Angeles Lakers veteran guard Patrick Beverley was always going to be assessed with a technical foul for that but you can’t blame the Lakers for being upset there. An official was standing right there as we see in the clip, but he didn’t call the foul as the referees usually do tend to hold the whistle in late-game situations.
That being said, this is not the first time such an incident has cost Purple and Gold a game. This has previously happened against teams like the Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks. Only goes on to show how the NBA refs have neglected the Lakers in the 2022-23 season.
