When the Los Angeles Lakers were down by just one point with more than 16 seconds left on the clock to score a game-winner, many expected Russell Westbrook to seal the deal. However, the potential Sixth Man of the Year did not fail to shoot to shot but even give his teammates an opportunity with the ball as the Purple and Gold registered their sixth consecutive loss against the Sixers.

Interestingly, Darvin Ham had 2 timeouts remaining where he could have set the play for his team. On the contrary, he decided to let Russell Westbrook cook. But to his dismay, his marquee player off the bench failed to edge past Joel Embiid to make any impact.

While Westbrook had 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists registered against his name, he simply could not find any of his teammates, taking the responsibility break their 2-game losing streak. What’s more concerning? Darvin Ham’s unit has lost 10 such close encounters as they fall 19-24 after this loss.

Russell Westbrook was vocal after the game that he got fouled by Embiid, which he claims was the reason for his awkward-looking shot. However, as the referees didn’t see it, the Lakers have no excuse for this loss as they will now lock horns against the depleted Houston Rockets. Interestingly note, this 5-game stretch could be crucial for this team in deciding their place in the Western Conference standings.
