For the first time in the 2022-23 season, the Dallas Mavericks have registered a win without their marquee scorer and perhaps the only All-Star for them, even this season, Luka Doncic. In contrast, some might suggest that Luka Magic did play in the contest but it wasn’t for long.
The Slovenian International only lasted on the court for only 3 minutes against the Phoenix Suns. It was Spencer Dinwiddie who stepped up in Doncic’s absence. Meanwhile the backcourt of Mark Cuban’s backcourt with 20 points, Dinwiddie hard-fought effort helped the Mavs win 99-95.
The former Washington Wizards star played 40 minutes and made 10 of 18 shots, including a terrific 5-for-6 clip from behind the arc. For at least one night, he carried the Dallas Mavericks to a huge road win without their franchise player against the Phoenix Suns. Keeping them right in the playoff berth.
Spencer Dinwiddie hails Luka Doncic after leading Mavericks past Suns
Spencer Dinwiddie, who starred with a season-high 36 points and nine rebounds, had this to say after the game, “I mean, sh*t, we want him back. Sorry, I didn’t mean to curse. We want him back. He’s our MVP.”
After this win, the Mavs are 26-24 fourth place in the Western Conference standings. Hopefully, their main-man could return well in time for them.
