Skip Bayless rips into the LA Lakers as they lost horribly in overtime against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Looks like the Los Angeles Lakers are back on their losing ways. On Friday, they played against the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. It was Lakers away game and they messed up big time.
In an overtime thriller, the LA Lakers lost against the Philadelphia Sixers 122 – 133. With this loss, the Lakers are now (10-15) this season and stand 13th in the Western Conference.
Anthony Davis had a good game, finishing with 31 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in 36 minutes. Meanwhile, LeBron James, who returned from an ankle injury and did not play one game, put up a below-average performance.
LeBron James finished with 23 points, four rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 43 minutes. However, he made 9-of-22 shots from the floor and 1-of-8 shots from deep.
Notably, Russell Westbrook had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. With this triple-double, Westbrook joined Magic Johnson as the only Laker with a triple-double off the bench.
A visibly struggling Lakers managed to pull through and put the game on overtime. But in the overtime period, Lakers displayed one of the worst performances ever.
The entire Lakers team struggled to perform during the overtime and surprisingly scored just two points in the OT period!
During overtime, Lakers missed their first nine shots of OT and were outscored 13-2 by the 76ers. The only two points of Lakers in overtime came from Patrick Beverly.
Naturally, the disastrous performance of the Lakers invoked strong reactions from several personalities, fans, and social media users.
TV analyst Skip Bayless is a well-known LeBron hater. And it is pretty obvious that he will be a harsh critic of the LA Lakers as LBJ plays for the team.
As Lakers lost against the 76ers in overtime, Bayless tweeted in surprise. Like many other fans around the world, Bayless also did not expect that Lakers will lose in overtime.
Especially, when the Lakers rallied back from 9 points down with 29 seconds left to tie the game.
This is what Skip Bayless tweeted. Take a look:
Skip Bayless was bewildered and said, “Impossibly, the Lakers came from 9 down with 29 seconds left to tie in regulation. Then, impossibly, they missed their first 9 shots in overtime and lost by 11. What a weird team.”
Sure, the performance in overtime was really ‘weird’ by the Lakers. Come to think of it, it’s crazy how they even managed to tie the game in first place.
