Early in the game, the four-time NBA champion used the platform to express his opinions on the news of Brittney Griner’s release from a Russian jail facility after nearly 300 days of detention.

Lebron poured out his heart and discussed the significance of Brittney Griner’s release. He told how the development of Griner is not only important for the sports world but also for the entire nation as well.

This is what LeBron James had to say on Brittney Griner’s prison release from Russia.

“I think it’s a great day for us as Americans having BG back,” LeBron said. “In the sports world, just having her presence back. Her wife misses her. Her family misses her. Her club misses her here in Phoenix. To have her a part of the basketball brother and sisterhood once again, it’s a big day for us and what we do. Kudos to the President. Kudos (to) Kamala Harris and everyone who had something to do with it…”

“Like Mav (Carter) said, there’s a lot of people that’s wrongfully detained right now. We hope we can get them all back.”

A video of Griner being led out of jail and onto a van that brought her to a Russian airport is currently trending on social media.

Also, before the flight took off, the Phoenix Mercury star addressed the media while seated onboard a plane. Griner was happy to learn that she was finally returning to the United States.

On the other hand, LeBron James also pointed to the fact that another American, Paul Whelan, was not included in the prisoner swap deal that happened between the U.S. government and the Kremlin government.

As per the prisoner swap deal, only Brittney Griner was released from Russian prison in exchange for convicted Russian arms dealer Victor Bout, who also happens to go by the alias “The Merchant of Death.”

LBJ also thanked US President Joe Biden, Vice-President Kamala Harris, as well as everyone who was involved in Brittney Griner’s prison release.
