Stephen Curry was selected with the 7th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors
Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter of all time and was drafted outside the Top-5 in his draft class. Curry was selected with the 7th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. The 2009 Draft has produced multiple All-NBA and All-Star level players.
The thing that baffles most fans is that Stephen Curry was drafted with the 7th pick. But it does make sense that Curry was drafted so low. At the time, the NBA was still a league dominated by pure bug men.
In addition to this, Stephen Curry was a short, skinny point guard who played at Davidson, a small basketball program. What I find rather interesting is that Curry was drafted right after the Minnesota Timberwolves selected 2 point guards back-to-back. Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn were selected with the 5th and 6th picks respectively.
That left Curry and the Warriors took him with the 7th pick. A rather funny thing about the whole ordeal is that Curry wanted to join the New York Knicks. he wasn’t too pleased when the Warriors drafted him.
Is Stephen Curry the best player from Draft Class?
There is no question that Curry was the best player in this Draft looking at his accolades. After being drafted by the Warriors, Curry went on to be a 4-time NBA Champion, an 8-time All-Star and 2-time NBA MVP. In addition to this, Stephen Curry built a dynasty with the Warriors.
Curry has changed the game of basketball forever in ways that can’t be described. He redefined the game and popularized 3-point shooting in the NBA.
Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players in the history of basketball. In addition to this, he will be considered one of the biggest steals in recent draft history.
