Kevin Durant revealed what he thought when he met Stephen Curry for the first time during their AAU days.

Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry have played as teammates and fierce rivals over the years. From competing for the western conference against each other to winning NBA championships together, they have done it all.

However, both of them knew each other before entering the NBA. Once in 2014, Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry, James Harden, and Kevin Durant were present for an NBA 2K15 event. During their time there, KD revealed what he thought when he saw Steph for the first time.

Talking about it Kevin Durant said, “I was about 10 years old, and our AAU team drove down to Charlotte to play. I thought he was white. He was this yellow kid, right? I’m just being real now, right? Where I come from, in the hood, we don’t see that. We don’t see the light-skinned guys around. It was all guys like me.”

He added, “I walk in the gym and this guy’s stepping across half court just pulling jump shots. Splash. Splash. And when we played him, he had like 35 and he was like 10 years old. I was like, who is this? And 10 years later … that was Steph Curry.”

One year after this event KD and Curry became teammates. They achieved immense success together and became arguably the greatest team of all time in the history of the game.
