LeBron James is now a 19-time All-Star as he was named the captain from the Western Conference on Thursday Morning. While Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, and Zion Williamson are the other four starters from the WC, fans are keen to know which season did King James not make the star-studded game.
During his rookie year with the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James averaged 20.9 points per game. Although this was much higher than some of the players who were selected for the game, King James himself was livid with the fact he wasn’t selected.
At the age of 19, LeBron James might have been named as the Rookie of the Year but just like the unsaid norm of the league, LeBron had to be ruled out of the All-Star honor.
Let us turn back the history pages, Michael Jordan had retired at the time when LeBron James entered the NBA as a rookie in 2003. While this was frustrating for MJ fans, it corresponded with a high-end change in the card game. This led to many NBA fans never witnessing a battle between James and Hir Airness on the NBA hardwood.
The 2003-04 season remains to be the only occasion where James wasn’t selected as an All-Star. Interestingly, the 38-year-old Power Forward was named as an All-Star Captain in the 2020-21 season when he averaged the next lowest 25.3 PPG in the NBA.
