NBA stars over the years have turned out to become ‘real-life’ heroes in their community. The latest to add himself in the list was Boston Celtics’ marquee Marcus Smart as he invited a 19-year-old kid based in Atlanta to the State Farm Arena for an epic showdown between the Cs and Atlanta Hawks. The name of this kid was Justin Brooks.
So, who is Justice Brooks? Why was he invited by Marcus Smart? The mentioned 19-year-old was diagnosed with sick cell disease. During the on-going came, Justin Brooks was spotted dawning the Boston Celtics, being a special invitee by one of the core players. Both the concerned personnel met earlier in the same year (2022) on a donor registry platform.
Not only Brooks and Smart got together brilliantly but they even teamed up on ‘Be The Match,’ a large-stage platform for blood donors to help save those who suffer with life-threatening blood diseases like sickle cells.

Smart even got to know the personal battle of Justin Brooks with sickle cells anemia in September. Being one of the newfound friendships in modern-day NBA, Smart wanted to warmly welcome his friend to the TD Garden, where he is considered no less than an idol by thousands of basketball fans.
“I met Marcus through Be The Match. And we flew out to Boston, me and my mom. And we met him at his house,” Justice Brooks mentioned as per Yahoo Sports. “We did a big media day. There was Boston news there and different news outlets and we did different interviews together. Before we did any interviews, Marcus came down to meet me.”
While Brooks emphasized on how he and Marcus connected whilst talking about basketball, Smart too didn’t hold back his true feelings upon the Warrior. “He’s always gonna be him. He’s a loving person. He’s smiling all the time and he really cares. He has every right to be down. But yet, he chooses to be up.”
