Irving fired his agent, Jeff Wechsler, during the summer when he arrived in Brooklyn in 2019. Furthermore, Irving even changes his representation to Roc Nations Sports to negotiate his contract with the Nets. This is just when Shetellia Riley Irving, the only ‘black’ woman representative in the NBA, to step in.
Interestingly, she is not only the stepmom of Kyrie Irving but is also the Vice President of Ad Sales at Black Entertainment Television, a subsidiary of the multimedia powerhouse Viacom. Perhaps after months of controversy Irving wanted someone close to his heart to take care of him professionally, that is just when he switched to Shetellia.
Shetellia never wanted to be an agent, rather she made a huge switch from the entertainment industry to the sports industry. That being said, will this sacred relation help Irving to land a mammoth deal during his free agency? Remains to be seen.
