Shannon Sharpe thinks there shouldn’t be talks of Kyrie joining the Lakers as players like Kawhi and PG13 already turned their offers down.

Recently, Kevin Durant turned down the rumours and made a decision to stay with the Nets one more season. This made the headlines and everyone thought Kyrie’s chances of joining forces with LeBron James were over.

At the same time, Kyrie to the Lakers is still a possibility as per the management and they are very positive about it. Irving might join purple and gold before the trade deadline or in the next season as he will be a free agent.

According to Laker’s office, Irving can join as a free agent next summer if not this year.

Can the Lakers acquire Kyrie Irving?

Shannon Sharpe talked about how the Lakers were about to acquire Kawhi and Paul George a couple of seasons ago but ended up without getting any of them. Kawhi joined the other team from LA and snubbed the Lakers.

Shannon said during the show, “I don’t even why this is an issue, I don’t even know why they are talking about Kyrie potentially coming next year.”

He added, “I don’t believe the Nets would trade Kyrie, they bought him back for a reason. They believe that they can compete for a title this year. If you believe you can compete for a title this year, why would you trade Kyrie at the trade deadline.”

The Lakers should be worrying about this season as it is important for them to win and not caring about Kyrie. Skip also agreed and made his point that according to LA Lakers, Kyrie is a saviour and the Lakers need him to win a ring.

He also reminded everyone of the Cavaliers‘ days of LeBron and Kyrie and according to Bayless, the Lakers think that Kyrie was a saviour.

Lakers are looking strong going in next season

The Lakers are looking very strong with LeBron James going in his 20th year. A healthy Anthony Davis can also make a huge difference as he is top five in the league if healthy.
