Dennis Schroder was arrested for initiating a fight outside of a hookah bar alongside 3 friends. He was charged with misdemeanor in Georgia back in 2017.
The video of the quarrel was recorded on tape, as reported by TMZ Sports. Police records confirmed his arrest. Dennis Schroder was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2013 NBA Draft as the 17th overall pick. He came into the league as a player who could challenge Rajon Rondo as they both had a similar playing style.
Atlanta Hawks tweeted an official statement after gaining the knowledge of Dennis Schroder’s arrest, “We are aware of an incident involving Dennis Schroder earlier this morning, we are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.” via Shlomo Sprung of Awful Announcing.
Dennis went on to play for multiple NBA franchises in his 10 year long career. Hawks traded him to Oklahoma City Thunder where he finished as the runner-up for NBA Sixth Man of the Year. He went ahead to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets over the 2nd half of his career.
An ESPN Senior NBA Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski released official updates, “Sources: Hawks guard Dennis Schroder was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge in early morning hours on Thursday in Atlanta suburb.”
“Schroder has been released on bail, and Hawks are expected to issue a statement soon, sources tell ESPN.”
That being said, Dennis Schroder at present is playing one of the best seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. He is providing the support that LeBron James and Russell Westbrook need, alongside center Thomas Bryant.
Moreover, he is averaging 12.5 points per game, recording 2.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He has helped stabilized the Lakers after their downcast season. They currently hold a record of 19-23 and stand 13th of the Western Conference table.
