ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski addresses rumours of James Harden-Ben Simmons trade
With the trade deadline a day away, the rumours of James Harden leaving the Brooklyn Nets have intensified with a blockbuster move to the Philadelphia 76ers. The star was potentially said to be part of a deal involving Ben Simmons, who was open to a move to the Nets this season.
The ESPN analyst talking on NBA ESPN said: “Brooklyn and Philadelphia are not engaged in anything meaningful, I’m told.” (h/t Twitter)
Harden was struggle this season with injuries. He has missed numerous games due to injuries to his hamstring and wrist. The Nets star is in annoyance with the team’s form and absence of key stars. The 32-year old signed for the Nets in January 2021, to join Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in a mega deal.
“Right now, there’s no negotiation going on between Philadelphia and Brooklyn…The idea that they are going back and forth that’s been surmised by some, I don’t believe that to be accurate.”
Simmons, meanwhile, has made himself unavailable to play and has not featured this season. The deal could be a good one for both teams as they head into the final stage of the regular season.
How will Harden fit in Philly?
The 76ers are also having further discussions with other teams to make trades for “support a James Harden arrival. The talks with President Morey will also keep in mind an increased draft capital. Harden, who won the MVP not a long time ago, looks a shadow of his former self.
Maybe, a partnership with Joel Embiid can help them conjure up a title-winning team with coach Doc Rivers masterminding something special. Embiid, who is averaging 29 PPG this season is missing a piece in the puzzle. Perhaps, a Harden revival could work wonders for the franchise.
