LeBron James’ initial years with the Los Angeles Lakers indicated just how well he had the ability to become an integral part of NBA’s most successful franchise. However, since the Lakers gave up their young core for Anthony Davis, their depth was always a major point of concern. To make matters worse, they were exposed after their championship years, several times with AD being injured.
While many have questioned whether or not Bron can lead the Lakers deep into the playoffs, perhaps to the NBA Finals seems to be a concerning affair. But if you were to believe Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo, King James needs to win another championship in Hollywood as he was destined for greatness with the LA Lakers.
“You left the Cavs, you left the Heat, you go to the Lakers,” Chris “Mad Dog” Russo said on the latest episode of ESPN’s First Take.
The experienced sports media analyst stressed about how another championship for LeBron James won’t make a difference to his legacy if it wasn’t with the Lakers, as he was brought on make this franchise the all-time greatest ever.
Having signed a two-year extension which keeps him in the same organization till 2024, LeBron is unlikely to move anywhere else before the end of his contract. Interestingly, 38-year-old has never left a team without his contract getting over (via trade). LeBron James used to be the player who raised the floor of a team’s performance. As impressive as he has been statistically this season, it hasn’t translated into winning for the Lakers.
That being said, LeBron James is averaging 27.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game. But he is also shooting 29.7% from 3-point range. Will we see him adding to his Lakers’ team in the same way he did against the Hawks? Remains to be seen.
