Zach Lavine will be staying with the Chicago Bulls for the foreseeable future after signing a huge max extension.
One of the biggest names in this year’s free agency was Zach Lavine. He was sought after by numerous organizations, including the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, that is not the case anymore as Zach Lavine has agreed to a five-year, $215 million max contract extension with the Chicago Bulls. It was announced by Klutch Sports on Friday.
Lavine has served as the Bulls organization’s face for many years, and last season, the team finally gave him a strong supporting cast. As a result, he has decided to settle down in Windy City for good.
Despite being limited by a left knee ailment that necessitated surgery soon after the season ended, Zach Lavine averaged 24.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from beyond the arc.
According to Shams Charania of the Athletic: NBA All-Star Zach LaVine has agreed to a five-year, $215.2 million maximum contract to return to the Chicago Bulls, with a player option in Year 5, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told @TheAthletic @Stadium.
Even though Lavine’s initial years with the Bulls weren’t good, the team is now in a good condition. The Chicago Bulls were able to make the playoffs in the recently concluded season. They were knocked out in the 1st round, but it was a good campaign for them.
The inclusion of Demar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball has proved to be very vital for the Bulls. The franchise has added star players to help Zach Lavine, and they looked like a good fit alongside each other.
Lonzo Ball got injured last season, and it derailed their season. When healthy, they are among the best teams in the NBA. If they can add some pieces more to fix up the flaws on their team, they can contend for the championship.
