Jae Crowder is likely to be traded by the Phoenix Suns as the veteran forward searches for a new team after two great seasons in Phoenix.
According to reports, Jae Crowder’s time with the Phoenix Suns has come to an end. It has been mutually agreed that Crowder will not be attending training camp while the Suns attempt to trade for him.
Crowder signed with the Suns in November of 2020 and has been a member of the team ever since. He was a key cog in the Suns’ 2021 run to the NBA Finals and remained so last year when he made 67 starts in 68 games.
Crowder finished the year with career averages of 9.4 PPG, 5.3 RPG, and 1.9 APG in 28.1 MPG played per game. Next summer, he will be a free agent after playing out the final year of his current contract for $10.1 million.
Jae Crowder tweeted this yesterday, “ONE MUST SEEK WORK WHERE HE IS WANTED.. WHERE HE IS NEEDED.! I AM THANKFUL FOR WHAT THESE PAST 2 YRS HAVE TAUGHT ME.! NOW I MUST TAKE ON ANOTHER CHALLENGE WITH CONTINUED HARDWORK & DEDICATION.! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CLOSED THE DOOR ON ME…. THANK YOU! 99 BACK SOON.!”
Given his value as a veteran forward who can both spread the floor and play a variety of defensive positions, there are likely to be a number of teams interested in acquiring Crowder. He’d be a great addition to the roster of any team serious about winning the title. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
