Russell Westbrook is still optimistic about the Lakers after a 2-8 start to the season

Russell Westbrook continues to play well while coming off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers as the team continues to struggle.

The Los Angeles Lakers dropped to 2-8 on the season after suffering a rout at the hands of the Utah Jazz for the second time this year. The absence of LeBron James from this contest meant that the Lakers were unable to benefit from his presence and influence.

Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook both had outstanding games against the Jazz, but in the end, their team’s defense was unable to stop Utah’s offense. Despite trading Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, Utah is continuing to surprise everyone with how well they are playing this season.

After coming off the bench for the Lakers, Russell Westbrook has been phenomenal, and despite the Lakers’ slow start to the new season (2-8), Westbrook is still optimistic about the team’s chances. After the loss, Russell Westbrook said, “I mean you just kinda play the cards that you are dealt. All kind of things happen that can change it around. It’s all part of the game, all part of the NBA season. Take one day at a time. We’re just gonna keep competing and then kinda see what happens.”

The Los Angeles Lakers next game is against the Los Angeles Clippers, and it will be very challenging for them to come out of that contest with anything positive. Because of the poor construction of this roster, the Los Angeles Lakers absolutely need to make some trades in order to avoid a disastrous season this year.
