Steph Curry ankle braces: How technology helped Stephen Curry avoid ankle injuries

How technology has helped Steph Curry prevent ankle injuries using braces?

Before Stephen Curry was known only as Steph, he played in just 26 games in the 2011–2012 NBA season and survived five ankle sprains. In addition, Steph Curry had already undergone ankle surgery less than a year ago, and now, only a few months before his rookie agreement was scheduled to expire, he was unexpectedly facing a second surgery. In order to treat his ankle problems, Steph Curry started to wear the form-fitting Zamst A2-DX ankle braces, which he has done for both ankles.

The brace is made to fit perfectly and stops the foot from slipping forward and the ankle from rolling. Steph Curry’s distinct style of basketball made his repeated sharp cuts during a game difficult, and the adoption of the anatomically accurate braces has moved the burden from the ankle to the brace’s resistance technology.

What did Steph Curry say about his use of the ankle braces?

Curry reportedly said the following during an ankle injury coverage for SportTechie in 2014. I’ve used a lot of different braces to help reinforce my right ankle, but since my surgery, I have only been wearing the ZAMST A2-DX, it has provided the support I need to keep me on the court…The ZAMST A2-DX is the only product that has given me the full confidence to play without the fear of re-injuring my ankle.”

According to the SportTechie report, the braces also use ZAMST X-straps to improve the anterior, lateral, and medial stability of the ankle. They also use their unique “i-Fit technology,” which enables each user to achieve a custom fit.

There is no surprise that the Warriors have leaned heavily on technology during their remarkable two-year stroll under head coach Steve Kerr, and it appears that they will need yet another piece of technology as well as some plain old luck if they want to win their second consecutive NBA championship, which is entirely dependent on Steph Curry’s ankle and its braces.
