Kawhi Leonard marked his return to the court and hit a clutch shot to secure the win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers opened up their new season with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers by 103-97 as they continued their dominance over their neighbors.
Kawhi Leonard played off the bench as this was his first game after recovering from the ACL injury that forced him to sit out the last season. Leonard played just 21 minutes and ended up scoring 14 points including one big shot at the end of the 4th quarter.
Paul George also scored 15 points in this game and it was a hard-fought win for them against a Lakers team that played good defense. Anthony Davis scored 25 points for the Lakers while LeBron James ended up with 20 points. New acquisition Lonny Walker IV was the top scorer for the Lakers as he scored 26 points and looked great.
Speaking after Kawhi Leonard hit that clutch shot to seal the win for the Clippers, Skip Bayless said, “Kawhi, baby: MONEY. The real King of LA.” The Clippers are title contenders this season and this win over the Lakers was the perfect way for them to start this campaign.
Even though the LA Lakers lost this game, their effort on the defensive end was quite good and they just need to knock down shots as their shooting has been quite bad so far this season.
