Los Angeles Lakers had just acquired Russell Westbrook in an offseason mega-trade. But as per the sources, he might be on move again after just 40+ games

LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers are desperate right now and might be losing patience on Westbrook. It is still a rumor but smoke appears only when there is slight fire. Westbrook’s performance is not as expected by the Lakers and they might get him off the book while he is still considered as an elite player.

Westbrook is averaging 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists this season, but in the absence of Anthony Davis. More production is expected from him. Also sadly his shooting efficiency has taken a slight hit. This is not an ideal situation for him when he is considered the third superstar in the team.

He had 9 triple-doubles for the Lakers, but the impact of those is just as equivalent to his season stats. Considering the Lakers’ 7th position in the West and trade deadline, they might be looking to get maximum returns for their “not-so-effective” star acquisition.

Westbrook was even benched in the 4th quarter in the recent game, which made a big buzz about his relations with coach Frank Vogel.

A possible destination for Russell Westbrook if traded by Los Angeles Lakers

Westbrook has a huge US $44 million contract with the Lakers and it will be very difficult for many teams to match, keeping their core. So teams who are under development might be interested in the deal, considering the playmaking and experience of Westbrook.

One such franchise is Houston Rockets, which lacks players in the point guard position and Westbrook might just fit in perfectly. He already had 1 season with the Rockets, but it was James Harden calling the offense for the team. Now he can have full control over the offensive plays, in which Westbrook thrives greatly.

As for the Lakers, they will look to add capable players in the front-court to support LeBron and Davis. Lakers’ centers are not playing well this season and in absence of AD, James had to fill that gap. The addition of Christian Wood and Eric Gordon will be beneficial for the Lakers in matching the salaries and also in-game perspective.

Wood could prove to be a great investment for the future also, while Gordon can be part of the guards’ position. Nevertheless, the Lakers are in the trade market for sure. Who they will consider as a trade chip and as an integral Laker-player will be interesting to watch.
