The 2023 NBA Draft will be held on June 22, 2023 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. There will be two rounds in this year’s event, with both being held on Thursday night. The San Antonio Spurs have the No. 1 overall pick, while the Charlotte Hornets currently picks No. 2 overall and the Portland Trail Blazers have the No. 3 selection. The Houston Rockets and the Detroit Pistons round out the Top 5 in the draft order.
The event will be held at the Barclays Center, the home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, for the ninth time in 10 years. The 2023 NBA Draft begins at 5 p.m. Arizona time on Thursday, 8 p.m. Eastern time. The first round of the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday will air on ABC and ESPN on Thursday night. The second round will air only on ESPN. The ESPN app will stream both rounds of the event.
French forward/center Victor Wembanyama is the overwhelming favorite to go No. 1 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, with FanDuel having him at -50000 odds to be the No. 1 pick. With his size and skill set, Wembanyama is one of the most lauded prospects of the past three decades.
Guard Scoot Henderson from G League Ignite and forward Brandon Miller from Alabama are expected to be top picks.
Henderson, who at 17 became the youngest player in G League history in 2021, is the total package. He is a master at midrange, can knock down a shot from behind the arc and finish at the rim, while getting it done on the defensive end. As for Miller, his long, lanky frame and athleticism will translate quickly at the next level, though he needs to become a more efficient shooter in the pros.
FanDuel has Henderson the favorite to go No. 2 overall at -195. It has Miller favored to go No. 3 overall at -200.
