Everything you need to know about the health update of the star Oklahoma City Thunder rookie, Chet Holmgreen.
After suffering a Lisfranc injury to his right foot, Oklahoma City Thunder standout rookie Chet Holmgren will be sidelined for the entirety of the 2022-2023 NBA season, according to the team’s announcement. In August, surgery was performed on the injury, and the results of the procedure were pronounced positive.
Holmgren was hurt while playing in a pro-am game in Seattle at The CrawsOver, which is located close to where he excelled for Gonzaga during the previous season. Holmgren looked to suffer an injury during the play which saw him guarding LeBron James.
The Thunder used the second overall pick in the 2022 NBA draught to choose Holmgren, a player who excelled at Gonzaga throughout his collegiate career. In his first year of college, Holmgren was a talented 7-footer who was named to the second team of Associated Press All-Americans. He led the Zags in scoring with 14.1 points per game, rebounding with 9.9 boards per contest, and blocking shots at 3.7 per game, ranking him fourth in the country.
He participated in the Utah Summer League as well as the Las Vegas Summer League. He made a strong impression in Salt Lake City by scoring 17.0 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, and 4.0 blocks per game. In addition, he shot 50% from the field and 41.7% from beyond the arc. The guards Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey are the ones that run the show for the Thunder, and he is one of numerous crucial parts of the team.
OKC is performing very well this season, and this squad has the potential to make a significant leap forward in the next season with the addition of another draught selection from the following year’s draught as well as the return of Chet Holmgreen.
