Throughout NBA history, there are several NBA players who have had many 50-point games in their careers. This massive feat of scoring 50 points is obviously a great personal record for the player, and sometimes it helps the particular player’s team to grab a glorious victory.
According to Basketball Reference, the great Wilt Chamberlain currently holds the record for most 50-point games in NBA history. Chamberlain had a total of 118 games where he scored 50 points or more.
Notably, Chamberlain made his NBA debut in 1959 as a center for the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors. Chamberlain immediately became the NBA’s highest-paid player as he signed his rookie contract for $30,000 (equal to about $266,000 today).
After playing for the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors, Chamberlain played for Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Diego Conquistadors. Notably, Chamberlain also played for the Harlem Globetrotters for one year.
Chamberlain in 1962 famously scored the 100-point game against the New York Knicks. Chamberlain is a two-time NBA champion (1967, 1972), NBA Finals MVP (1972), 4x NBA MVP (1960, 1966-1968), 13x NBA All-Star (1960-1969, 1971-1973), NBA All-Star Game MVP (1960), NBA Rookie of the Year (1960).
