Nikola Jokic is the reigning winner of the NBA’s MVP award but this year’s race has had no clear favorite yet for the award.
The NBA’s regular season is about to end and with that comes the dilemma of awarding the winners for multiple categories around the league.
The NBA’s awards will include the winners of these categories:
- MVP
- Defensive Player of the Year
- Rookie of the Year
- Coach of the Year
- 6th Man of the Year
- Scoring Title
The race for the MVP Award has always been thrilling every season and the same will be the case for this season also, as the fight at the top is currently neck to neck and no clear winner has been projected till now.
Top 3 players in the race for the NBA’s MVP Award
Among many top players around the league, currently, these players are at the top to fight for the MVP of the season :
3. Joel Embiid – Philadelphia 76ers
Joel Embiid has had a stellar season so far for the 76ers and along with the race for the MVP Award, he is also in the top 3 for the race to the scoring title which shows how much dominant he has been during this season. Although the inclusion of Harden has eased his load we can’t deny that he should be in the talks for the MVP this season.
He is currently averaging 30 PPG, 4.3 APG & 11.5 RPG.
2. Giannis Antetokounmpo – Milwaukee Bucks
The reigning Finals MVP, Giannis is arguably the best player in the world currently and he has made this Bucks team a favorite again to win the Championship this season. Coming off after winning a championship last season with the Bucks, Giannis hasn’t slowed down a bit and has eventually elevated his game to the next level as he continues to show the world his greatness.
He is currently averaging 30.1 PPG, 5.8 APG & 11.7 RPG.
1. Nikola Jokic – Denver Nuggets
The reigning NBA MVP is still the frontrunner for the MVP Award this season and is the favorite to win it again this season which would be a very great story for a player who got drafted in the second round during a commercial break.
The way he has carried this Nuggets team to be in contention for the playoffs even without his two co-stars Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. who have been out due to injuries has been a remarkable achievement for the Serbian.
He is currently averaging 26.6 PPG, 8 APG & 13.6 RPG.
As things currently stand, the MVP Award will stay in Denver with Nikola Jokic destined to win it again after having another prolific season in his career.
