“Why didn’t Utah take this it’s a fleece”: NBA World left puzzled after the Utah Jazz declined a better New York Knicks offer for Donovan Mitchell to trade him for less to the Cavs

Donovan Mitchell was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers even though the New York Knicks had a better offer for him.

In an unexpected turn of events, Donovan Mitchell was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers from the Utah Jazz. Throughout the offseason, Mitchell’s name was mentioned in trade rumors, and he was repeatedly linked to the Miami Heat and New York Knicks.

His next residence will be in Cleveland. Donovan Mitchell will join a young and talented roster, and this move makes the Cavaliers a legitimate NBA Championship contender. The Cavs offered Lauri Markkanen, Ochair Agbaji, and Collin Sexton, three unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps in order to get Mitchell.

However, the New York Knicks had a significantly better offer for Donovan Mitchell. Surprisingly, the Utah Jazz rejected that offer and accepted the Cavs offer to trade their star player.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN: At the start of trade talks in July, New York offered Utah a Donovan Mitchell package including RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin, Mitchell Robinson, and three unprotected first-round picks, sources tell ESPN. Jazz turned down that offer and Robinson signed a $60M extension to stay w/ NY.
