Ned Jarrett won two NASCAR Cup Series during his career. Known as the Gentleman Ned Jarrett, he has 50 wins in the NASCAR Cup. Jarrett also competed in the Daytona 500 for 7 years, but he couldn’t win the title. Ned Jarrett’s lucky vehicle was his 1965 Ford Galaxie which also helped him win the 1965 Cup Series championship. Ned Jarrett Car Collections

Ned Jarrett owned luxury cars and he used some of the premium Ford vehicles. He made his debut in the 1959 NASCAR Cup Series with the Ford vehicle for Mellie Bernard. Ned Jarrett drove Oldsmobile, Studebaker, Pontiac, and Buick in the following seasons before moving to Ford again. Ned Jarrett drove most races in Ford Fairline and Ford Galaxie.

Ned Jarrett’s Ford cars and replicas are available in the Museum. His 1966 Ford Fairline is still available in the museum. Jarrett won the 1961 Cup Series with #11 sponsored by B. G. Holloway. He won the 1965 title with #11 Ford Galaxie. Ned Jarrett secured the 1965 Southern 500 championship with the same #11 Ford car.

Ned Jarrett Car Accidents

In the 1964 NASCAR season, Ned Jarrett was involved in a crash at Charlotte. He made contact with Junior Johnson on lap 7. Another racer, Fireball Roberts, was involved in the crash where his car caught fire. The car was burning when Jarrett tried to enter and save Roberts. After the crash, Fireball Roberts lost his life and Ned Jarrett had burns on his face. The 1964 NASCAR incident was a shocker and Ned Jarrett could not overcome this nightmare for many years.

Apart from the 1964 car crash, Ned Jarrett was involved in other small accidents where he survived without injuries. Ned Jarrett’s son Dale Jarrett was involved in a crash with Glover in 1980 where Dale suffered an ankle injury. The 1964 NASCAR accident spread like a wildfire after Fireball Roberts lost his life. Many people criticized Ned Jarrett for the crash, but there was no case against him. Ned Jarrett was guilty of the incident, but he came back to the next year’s event and won the title in style.

Ned Jarrett Car Numbers

Ned Jarrett drove many cars with different numbers, but his lucky number in the NASCAR was always #11. Ned Jarrett’s #11 Ford blue car was his most favorite vehicle. He also secured NASCAR Cup Series titles in the #11 Ford Galaxie. Sources indicate he won more than 40 races in #11 Ford cars.

Ned Jarrett also changed his car numbers frequently during NASCAR, but those didn’t bring him luck. His other known car numbers were #79 Oldsmobile, #61 Oldsmobile, #30 Pontiac, #38 Chevrolet, and #89 Buick. Ned also drove #19, #23, #25, and #21 Ford cars.

Ned Jarrett Car Design

Ned Jarrett primarily drove Blue and White Ford vehicles. He didn’t get paint schemes during his days. Ned Jarrett’s Ford cars were sponsored by his racing teams. His Ford Galaxie had two different blue colored editions sponsored by Richmond Motor Company.
