NBA fans were quick to react after Golden State Warriors legend Steph Curry was on the cover of SLAM magazine.
Fans of Stephen Curry are so thrilled with his appearance in the newest issue of SLAM Magazine’s Night Night Celebration issue that they want it printed on a t-shirt. Additionally, SLAM wrote about how Curry has solidified his legacy
From every angle, champagne sprays were coming. Players shouted, danced, embraced, leapt about, drank, and smoked cigars. Champions, the Golden State Warriors. Again. It was time to rejoice back in the opposing locker room at TD Garden.
The legacy of Stephen Curry is established. Period.
If we’re being really honest, it had already been decided before he took the 2021–22 Warriors back to the top, just two seasons after they had the poorest record in the NBA. Long before his illustrious 43-point, 10 rebound effort on the road during Game 4 of the Finals. Long before he faced a historically strong Celtics defense, averaging 31.2 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals over the course of the series. Long before he won his fourth ring and the Bill Russell Finals MVP award.
But this was the cherry on top, the last flourish, the exclamation point. Given everything the team has gone through over the last two years—losing, injuries, roster changes, and unrelenting criticism—as Curry himself put it, this victory “hits different.”
Just to make sure we’re all on the same page, here is the resume: 8-time All-Star, 8-time All-NBA, 2-time MVP, 2-time scoring champion, 4-time winner, MVP of the Finals, and all-time leader in made three-pointers. It is quite challenging to summarise Curry’s legacy due to his distinctive style of play and almost unheard-of influence. Following Golden State’s triumph in Game 6 to secure the championship, coaches and teammates gave it their all.
When you consider a player like Stephen Curry, Draymond Green says, “It’s simply remarkable to have the season and career that he has. And to put a seal on it, the Finals MVP. I know he claimed it didn’t matter, but he meant that his legacy wouldn’t be as strong without it. That is trash. Still, Steph Curry, he is. He is still among the best of all time. But you want it so you can add it to your resume as a rival. And it’s highly earned for him. It’s been in the works for a while. He made his intentions clear. He carried us as well.
When you consider someone like Stephen Curry, to have Those quotes mostly tell the tale, says Draymond Green. Likewise, the resume. The way the game has changed also reflects this. The Warriors have established themselves as a real NBA dynasty under Curry’s leadership, winning four championships and making six Finals appearances in only eight years.
