Wolverhampton Wanderers announced their return to the Premier League in spectacular fashion as they walked away with a solitary point, following a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Everton at Molineux on Saturday.
Marco Silva and Nuno Espirito Santo must be immensely proud of their respective teams as the Wolves and Toffees did everything to secure a win. In fact, it was arguably one of the most entertaining and riveting games in the Premier League so far, with both sets of fans experiencing a varying range of emotions throughout the match.
Richarlison opened the scoring and looked sharper than ever on his debut game for the Merseysiders. Wolves’ star man Ruben Neves came through with a stunning equalizer right before half-time.
After the break, Richarlison notched up a fantastic brace as he scored again, much to the delight of the visiting Everton fans. However, after a heavily-spirited display from the home side towards the dying minutes of the game, Raul Jimenez equalized yet again.
Despite the fatigue and the pouring rain, both sets of players worked immensely hard on the field and it was an equal battle in every sense. In fact, at certain points, Wolves did not seem like a newly-promoted outfit at all.
The only downside for Everton would be the red card picked up by Phil Jagielka, which resulted in Neves’ goal. As far as Wolves are concerned, the club did fail to create clear-cut chances and that is something they must improve as the season progresses.
