Dead Space is getting a remake and here is all we know about the new game from EA’s Motive Studio
The original Dead Space game, made by Visceral Games, was an instant hit. It is a Sci-fi survival horror classic with die-hard fans.
However, a remake is on the way and EA shared details about the same:
According to the EA news release, “Players will experience an improved story, characters, gameplay mechanics and more as they fight to survive a living nightmare aboard the desolate mining starship, the USG Ishimura, all while uncovering the dreadful mystery of what happened to the slaughtered crew and ship.”
The game was announced at EA Play live event 2021. According to Phillippe Ducharme, senior producer of Dead Space, they will be going back to the original game and modernizing it for the next-gen consoles. They have also reached out to dedicated fans to provide feedback right from the initial stages of the game.
Dead space made a huge impact on the sci-fi survival horror genre when it was first released. We follow Isaac Clarke in the 26th century as he tries to survive aboard the USG Ishimura Spaceship.
The player has to battle undead beings known as Necromorphs, which are somewhat similar to zombies. The only difference being, the way to kill them is to slice off their limbs and not heads.
From the trailer that was revealed at the EA Live event, the new game will be a remake and not a remaster. The remake will hopefully remain faithful to the dark and horrifying original game that spawned a fan favourite franchise.
There are three main series games that follow the original storyline of Isaac. There are also two spin-off games, Dead Space: Ignition and Dead Space: Extraction. Ignition is a puzzle action game while Extraction is a rail shooter.
The game will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. The official release date hasn’t been released yet.
